EAST HAMPTON, N.Y.—The
SCOPE Hamptons art fair kicks off tonight with its first-ever Collector Mentorship Auction, which will offer bidders the opportunity to spend an hour with seasoned collectors. The star lots include
Beth Rudin DeWoody,
Melva Bucksbaum,
Bob Colacello, and
Arnold Lehman, who will be for "sale" during a silent auction with bids starting at $500 and going up in $100 increments, according to the
New York Sun. After choosing the collector of their choice, bidders can redeem their private hour of art advice within the following year.
The SCOPE annual art fair, now in its seventh year, is making an unabashed attempt to facilitate the next generation of art collectors, explains president
Alexis Hubshman: "SCOPE has a pretty rich history of building emerging contemporary young collector constituency. For this, we reached out to the managers of the young collector population. We tried to be a little bit more deliberate."
Proceeds of the mentorship auction will benefit two SCOPE Foundation art projects, "The Girl Project" and "The Arctic Circle Project."
