The Beyelers were art dealers who collected the likes of Picasso, Max Ernst, Francis Bacon, van Gogh, Kandinsky, and Monet. Their collection of about 200 works is housed in the Fondation Beyeler public museum, which opened in 1997 in a building designed by Renzo Piano.
