NEW YORK—London's Albion Gallery has sued artist James Turrell in U.S. District Court in Manhattan in an attempt to have him complete and deliver a series of works it has already sold, reports the New York Sun.

Albion sold nine works in the "Tall Glass" series of installations, which involve projections of a "light field" within a room, to prominent collectors and investors, but Turrell has completed only one, which was purchased by Louise MacBain, owner of ARTINFO parent company Louise Blouin Media, for $580,000.

Albion has sought a court order requiring Turrell to "produce and deliver the 'Tall Glass' works" for several of the clients, saying it has been denied its 50 percent commission on the remaining pieces, which sold for more than $3.3 million total.

In a countersuit, Turrell, who left Albion and is now represented by PaceWildenstein, accuses Albion director Michael Hue-Williams of showing a prototype of the "Tall Glass" series to prospective buyers without his permission.
